Learning CAD in Rügen Hotel
I had a two week break from my information technology course in Berlin, and I didn’t plan on wasting it. While most of my fellow students are going to visit their families or go on trips with friends, I am going over to the island of Rugen to engage on some more study while I am on break. I love my course and have always had trouble with the concept of study breaks. I guess I am just one of those people who wants to keep going and doesn’t really know how to relax. Over in Rugen I have organised to meet up with a former employee of my fathers who is going to teach me how to use some of the computer aided design (CAD) software that is out there on the market.
While I am studying software engineering in Berlin, I have always had a strong interest in computer aided design methods. This man who I am going to meet used to design return drive drums (Umlenktrommel) and other machinery in my fathers factory many years ago but has kept himself up to date with the latest CAD applications. He has a holiday home near Binz in Rugen and I could not pass up the opportunity to meet him up there and learn from this man. He only had a small holiday house and I didn’t want to impose so I am staying in a Baltic Sea Hotel, which will be a nice change from my current student accommodation.
It is 3D modeling that interests me the most, and that is exactly what I can learn while on this break. He told me on the phone that we would be mainly using an application called ‘Solid Edge’, which is a parametric feature solid modeling program. I can’t wait to get to the wreecher-hof.de – Hotel and start learning all this cool stuff, It seems like I have wanted to know it for so long. I have no doubts that I will be enjoying my holiday just as much as some of my friends who are going skiing up in the Alps, I really do love learning and technology that much.
